Just A Quiet Saturday

My Saturday morning started very early 4:30 and ended between 8-9 that is why I am up at this hour of the morning once again.

While I had time to myself I started to organize my special Christmas project but didn't get very far not really sure what order I should put it all in. This morning I did get a little farther then looking at it spread out on the table and put some of it together... but not much... maybe tomorrow... I think I have a long road ahead of me with this one and the thought that was going through my head while sitting at the table this morning was Why or How do I come up with these ideas? I just hope that it will be appreciated when it is all done.

Saturday started for Carl around 8 am and that is when we got on the move... going to the market was a must since I didn't get eggs last week because I was there too late and they were all sold... but not this time... after a market kind of breakfast we dropped into both parents for a visit... with Robin dropping in at mom's while we were there... that ended the morning for us... and as we headed home talks of a quiet first part of the afternoon was on our lips but that was about it because within the hour Matthew came a knocking and at 3 pm I headed out to pick up mom for church leaving the two guys and two puppies behind...

By the time I walked out of church my nose was burning, I coughed my way through the celebration and my eyes were stinking... I was never so happy to get out in the cold fresh air... My question to the woman that was in front of us was... okay you didn't have time for a shower this week so you decided to hide the dirty smell with the bottle of perfume you picked up at the Dollar Store or you love this stuff so much that you had to share it with everyone that was around you for a 100 miles or so...which ever it was I wanted to ring her blood neck...

Carl has started a mission... it started yesterday morning while he was looking at the fliers at mom and dad's... he tore out the add from Sears for a GPS... he out to find himself a GPS for when he is travelling... don't mind that at all... so after church he was up at mom's when we got there and to started the venture... first stop was Canadian Tire... they had a few there... next we stopped to pick up pop at Jean Coutu and found a couple there... then off to Bathurst's Place Mall to the Source to have a look there... he will go to every possible place to see their GPS and at the end of it... and this is from experience he will go buy the one at one of the first places he went looking... and that will be either on Saturday or Sunday since Monday he is on his way again out West..... I did make him stop though because I needed food... he he

That was how we spent the first part of the evening... by the time we got home we were both looking for a nap so I said okay you go lay down until 10 then we will watch our movie.... I will get you up... ya right that was going to happen... because by 9 I was in bed watching a movie on the TV and was out like a light within minutes... only to get up at 2 am and that is why I am writing this at this hour of the morning...

I also have to say thank you to Carl for getting that stupid smart card for Bell Express View straighten out for the upstairs TV... and also finally setting up the dvd player... it has only been up there for hmmmm 2 or so years without it being hooked up... now I can start watching other movies other then the VHS ones ....

Well off to bed I go for the second time tonight... hopefully I will get a couple of more hours in... Have a wonderful Sunday guys...

A Busy Saturday for Me

My task for today was a very simple one... go to the market and ask the guy from A & C farms to hold my turkey until Christmas since I was not putting Thanksgiving on this year.... I am not sure how many times I have been to the market got in and out without seeing or talking to any one that was there simply because there was no one there I actually knew... today it was a different story... it started as I was walking into the building and met up with Claudette and her husband... we talked for a few minutes and on our different ways we went only to walk in and meet up with Jerry... what was suppose to take me a few minutes took me an hour to do.... as I walked along I ended up meeting up with several other people that I knew and had not seen in a long time.... but as I came to the last few I thought of mom and how she would not liked this trip to the market with me this morning because of it.... it has always been a great complain of hers when she went out with dad... he took too long because he always stopped and talked to those he knew... I laughed at the thought of her saying to me that I was just like my father... I am out of there with a bag of fresh cranberries knowing that I had no idea what I was going to do with them because there was so many and I really only needed about 1/4 of them for Christmas but I thought what the heck.... and a bag of string beans....

After a short stop into mom and dad to drop off the string beans... I headed to the grocery store when I met up with several other people and walked out of there with frozen strawberries, sugar, oranges and lemons.... supplies for strawberry jam and marmalade... came home and spent the rest of the day making preserves... 4 bottles strawberry jam for mom since she was down to her last bottle.... 10 bottles of cranberries and 14 bottles of marmalade... of course most of it will be shared with the family which I already started with Robin as he headed back to his in laws with a box of crap apple jelly, (which was only favor since they were his crap apples) orange marmalade and beets... now I am sitting here thinking what else I can do with my time with Carl gone... I was talking to Hubert in the afternoon and he said that he had made grape jam or was it jelly and thought maybe I should check tomorrow on the grape situation here and see if there is enough to make some of that as well... now that will be something new because I have never made that before.... I have to say time went a lot faster today with all that I did... the only thing was when I came up to bed tonight or last night since it is 5 am Sunday morning... was sitting at the computer and heard a very loud noise downstairs... I went to see what was going on only to find that the shelf in the pantry that held all the preserves had collapsed from the weight... I guess I did enough preserving for the year... one of the little thingies that held the shelf has to be replaced... maybe I should look for a heavier one so it can hold the bottles or just put the bottles some where else in the cupboards...

I know this morning when I get up again I have the clematis to deal with... they are not normally cut down but this year I am... they have covered the window in the hall way and the other night I got up to go to the washroom and kept hearing this very strange noise and after trying to find out what it was ... I discovered that the wind had cause it to move the screen open on the window and it was making this strange noise... it wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't here alone but it kind of freaked me out so they have to go... actually I was thinking of moving them any way ... so this would be a good time to do it... now to get the planter ready for the move... anyone have a spare length of rain gutter for me LOL... there are other things that have to be done soon as well.... around the yard like picking up all the decorations around the yard.... and putting them away for the winter... cutting some of the plants down... so maybe that is what I will be doing today while it is still not too cold out to get them done....

So off to bed I return... and hope that I will start my day a little later then now... Enjoy the wonders of this autumn time.... it is one of my favorite seasons.... Joanne
