The Last Day of The Month Which Means????

The last day of the month which means tomorrow is the first day of May but most importantly it is the first day of lobster season....there is nothing like a Bay Lobster....boil, boil, crack, crack, hot butter... ohhh heck with the butter it just ruins the taste he he....

I thought I would do my blog this morning while sitting here burning the last of the Nickum cds of photos and documents... 7500 photos have been scanned and most of the fixed through psp by Carl... 41 documents as well are included on the cd... of them I translated 4 legal pages from Germany to English and was very happy when I brought it back to Opa to see how I did... it was not too bad... I guess our winter project is officially done with... So today or tomorrow all the albums, photos, negatives and slides will be packed up and taken back to Carl's parent's place with 3 copies of the 6 cds that we have done. Actually there is only 5 cds of photos... the first cds is an introduction to what they will find within the others...

It was a very enjoyable and informative project and actually wouldn't mind having another one next year... One day I will go through all these photos, get some hard copies to make an album for ourselves... including the information that we found but most importantly the information we received from Carl's Uncle and Aunt... there is one project I would like to get done before Christmas and that is for Susan when she was looking at the photos some times back she mentioned she didn't have a baby book of her photos... but like everything else that I do I will have to wait for the mood to hit me...

This week I have seen very little of Carl... and no I didn't put him in the dog house... more the garage actually and he put himself in there... getting his tools and things back to where they are suppose to be.. and maybe when he is gone I will be able to find them when I go looking for them... he he... the snow blower is put away and the lawn tractor is now sitting outside waiting for the grass to grow and the few projects that he had not finished before heading out last year and a few new ones this year...

As for myself I have taken a few trips around the yard trying to figure out where I am going to put the plants that needs to be divided but that is about it for me... Nothing seems to be motivating me to get out in the dirt or even go to the green house to start taking things out that is normally out there this time of the year... maybe if I start something I may get in the mode... but as of yet nothing but I am sure the second I start watch out there will be no stopping me...

I started my day several hours ago with the cleaning of the computers... mainly Carl's at the moment ... mine is next... I have thousands of photos that have to be moved so if anything happens to this little sucker I don't lose them because I have done that one before... well a few times... of course the laundry, picking up, more laundry and looking through my summer clothes to see what I can take out at the moment... with the weather going from 28 on day and to 4 the next maybe I should just leave things as they are....

Have a wonderful Thursday all... Joanne

Extension of Project 2009 -01

There are days I have a hard time to get that one photo for the day and then there are other days I can't make up my mind on which one I want to put in Project 2009 so I thought I would post the rest of them here so others can see them...

Kailen turns totally legal for the bars in Canada and the USA... if she ever visits there... just a little celebration to mark her day....

And a little thinking of you gift to go with it...

Flo out putting up the extra bird out on the clothes line stand....

The only one she could probably get to feed out of her hand...

Kailen going blond ....

Nepisiguit River with some of the ice still in the river.... that is the closest I got to the river breaking up... hmmmm I am so slow at times... thinking mother nature was actually going to wait for me to show up for a photo moment...

One of the fishermen out testing out his boat before the big day of the year arrives.... off of Millersbrook Wharf....

The beach at Millersbrook Wharf

On top of the hill of Stonehaven Wharf....

Old Lobster traps...

Snapping the Church from the Wharf...

Was there at the right moment ... as I was leaving realized I was not going anywhere as they transported one of the larger boats to the wharf... Stonehaven
Cowboy was the name of the boat....

This is the old garage that fell this winter just the turn before the road meets up with the highway....

Just coming on to sunset and you know I had to get a few of those snap shoots...
There is a hole in the sky....

Not sure what the name of this brook is but it is right before Debbie's and the beavers have been very busy for the last couple of years... this is the biggest I have seen it.....

They have been really busy this winter ... Carl figures the beaver is a little upset with the water going over it....

And I got the jet in the sky again... I always love takings like this...

Well that is the end of these photos ... I am sure there will be more at a later date.... enjoy your Monday all.... Joanne

I received this from Flora this morning and thought it was so touching and thought I would pass it on to you guys....
BEING
A MOTHER

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted Me to take another woman out to dinner and movie.

She said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would Love to spend some time with you.'

The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. 'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked?

My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

'I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you,' I responded 'just the two of us.' She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much.'

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on.

She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

'I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said, as she got into the car. 'They can't wait to hear about our meeting..'

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.

After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half-way through the entrees, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me.

A nostalgic smile was on her lips.. 'It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor,' I responded. During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.' I agreed.

'How was your dinner date?' asked my wife when I got home. 'Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Sometime later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined.

An attached note said: 'I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but, nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me.

'I love you, son' At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: 'I love YOU' and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve.

Nothing in life is more important than your family.. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till some 'other' time..

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, 'normal' is history.

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first... somebody doesn't have two or more children.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery....somebody never watched her 'baby' get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten... or on a plane headed for military 'boot camp.'

Somebody said a Mother can stop worrying after her child gets married... somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home... somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her... somebody isn't a mother.
Have a wonderful Sunday... hugs Jo

You Know It Is Spring When .....

Thursday morning and it is my second time getting up to start the day... the first was at 4 am but decided that getting up this early just was not going to do it for me today since it was still raining out... at the moment it is down pouring and I am thinking lets make it for the third time.... the morning is not over it may still happen...

Our weeks started with taking down and packing away the Christmas lights around the yard finally... only wishing that some of the spring stuff would be able to be put up as well but that is not yet since there is still snow in the yard. I did get to take a walk about making a note of which plants need to be divided and planted some where else... moving Nanny's rose bush is one of the first things that have to be done because it is not doing all that great where it is... I can't wait to get into the flowers and get things going but I can't even get the wheelbarrow over to where everything is so I am going to have to wait for a little longer... the green house has to be re plastic this year, the person that came in to clean the yard before Carl came home had no pity on it... I guess that will be the first thing on the very long list to do... We still can't take a walk on the pathway to check out the hostas as well...the last few days with all the rain it looks like little lakes through out the woods... I hope it doesn't take as long as it did last year to dry up and have the hostas start growing... even though each day I am see more and more of the pathway and less of the snow... so soon it will be a reality...

With the coming of Spring, spring cleaning is on the list of things to do... and this week was one of the weeks that we started... making more room in the TV room for a scrap booking area for Rebecca and I... since every time we get together I am moving almost all my supplies into the dining... I was in a liquidation place today and seen a really nice table to put down there instead of taking the one from up here to use and it was not all that expensive... it is a little smaller then the dining room table with all the leaves in it but it is wider... think it will work nicely downstairs.... after two days of moving things around we have the space I am hoping that when I go back to get it this week it will still be there... I lost a closet when Matthew moved back so I had to make more space somewhere else for the clothes that normally when in there by moving some things around in the kitchen, dining room and cupboard in the sitting room.

There are two rules in the house when it comes to things... the first is if it has not been used within the last 6 months we really don't need it so why are we keeping it... and most times we don't when it comes to spring time which has been what we have been doing and boy have we have a load for the trailer when it stops raining... the next stop for us is our storage areas upstairs I see a second trailer heading out when we get into the spaces... so much has been put there and forgotten but last year when we went to put the air conditioners a way there was no space for them... there will be this year.....

The second rule is if you buy something new to replace something else... the something else has to be out not stored away just in case we can use it for something else... I think that is a father thing of mine because I was doing it for a long time....every spring and fall when I put clothes away for the season each is looked at and asked did I wear it this season... if not it is off to the Sally Ann Blue Boxes... they have got a lot of my clothes through out the years since this rule has been made... I am also a nut for dishes... I think at one time I was up to 9 sets of dishes in the house... but I have cut down a bit in those... but I am sure people would think 5 sets (that includes my Christmas dishes) is still too many... but they are not leaving the house and I have a learning for all of them ... like the ones that Aunt Vina gave me several years ago... like they will every leave.. and the set I bought with gift certificates from Carl and my mother for my birthday several years ago... and of course the 16 setting set I got for when the whole family is in... which has been a while... and they have irises on them... got to love them... of course my every day dishes which I went to the Dollar store to get because I couldn't find a set of square plates without cutting a leg and arm off to get a set of 4.... got a set of 20 for 20 bucks and didn't have to figure out where to put all the cups that normally you get with a set of dishes that you really don't like... of course with the dishes the flatware is there to equal the amount of dishes that are in the house...dishes and flatware two of my weaknesses ... the only thing I am missing and have not found yet and I will buy them if I ever come across them is the Christmas flatware...

I know there are walls to wash and windows to clean and I know one morning I am going to get up and start doing it but I am not in that much of a spring mood yet... but the little that we have done this week has set the mood so I am sure it will not be all that long before I am writing about the walls being washed just not yet....

Have a great one... Joanne

Monday isn't all the bad after all....

For a Monday it has not been a really bad day.... I found out this morning that the market has been good to me last month which is always nice to hear...I went to the dentist and I didn't need drugs for what he was doing this morning... which is always nice as well....

And at the moment while I am sitting here Carl is on his way up to pick up baby girl to scrap book for a while a much needed thing for her to relax a bit after the weekend she had... and if no one knows who Baby Girl is ... it is Rebecca... taken from Criminal Minds...love that saying.... so Kailen, Rebecca and I are having a girls night...

As for mom and dad all is great with them... Mom has been going out a lot more these days... to funerals, funeral parlours, and the luncheons afterwards... out for drives with dad, Roger and Flo... spring is here... the black salmon fishing is started at the bridge and it is one place she doesn't mind going to watch men fishing for either that or sea trout... and of course the ducks... which reminds me I am going to have to get some feed so they can feed them when they go...

Besides that there is not a lot going on around here.... Carl and I was out for lunch with Roger and Flo yesterday which a very nice outing... looking forward to another one in the future...

Have a great one company is coming... Joanne....

Joseph Ronald Sivret

Remembering his laughter, it is in sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Sivret that occurred on April 16, 2009 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 60. Ron was the beloved husband of Helene (Couture) and the best Dad ever for his daughter Renee Michelle. He was born in Bathurst, the son of late Martin and late Leona (Couture) Sivret. He leaves behind a brother and two sisters who will miss him very much; Gerald (Linda) Sivret, Geraldine (Harvey) Coll and Anne Marie (Greg) Melanson. He was pre-deceased by a brother Leonide.
Ron was blessed by having an extended family that he also loved so very much; Clifford & late Therese Couture, Paulette (Winston) Sheppard, Annette Couture and Roland Couture. Ron also touched the hearts of his many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. Ron was an inspiration to his friends and family because being diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 12, which was followed by blindness and kidney failure as time went by, he continued to live life with humour and laughter. Ron recognized his blessings and was grateful to God.
Following in the footsteps of his father and brother, Ron became a bricklayer by trade. He had many interests such as cars & trucks, horses and a passion for archery. Challenged with blindness, he continued to shoot archery by coming up with the idea that his hearing could replace his sight; and it worked!
Ron was also an avid Ham Radio Operator. He often spoke with other operators that shared common interests and challenges. “They’re a great bunch” he’d say about these special friends.
There will be visitation at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) Bathurst, on Friday, April 17, 2009 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Andrew St., Bathurst, April 18, 2009 at 11:00am. Donations in memory of Ronald may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

April Snow Brings May ??????

I thought the saying went April Showers brought May Flowers... Just wanted to show you people that are not around here what our Easter Weekend looked outside our windows... I am hoping that it is the last of the wonderful winter wonderland until November or December 25 would be a lot better....

Yes the Christmas Decorations are still up... we can't get to them to take them down yet....

And just a few days ago I was thinking of the flower beds and getting into them soon... boy did that good up in smoke yesterday or should that be up in snow he he

I am sure Mr. Nutty is happy with the snow.. he is able to make his tunnels so he can hide from the hawk that has been flying around the yard looking for its little furry snack... though I have not seen it yet today Carl has a few times...

Though the snow is still falling and I have no desire to go out today it is still a great one... and you all have a good one too... Joanne

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter to all....
The only photo that was taken this weekend for the Easter weekend was this one of mom by Flo after she shampooed, trimmed and curled mom's hair..

I can't believe that with 2 cameras in the house not one other photo was taken... Pat and I are getting slow in our old age....can't count Flo's, she and her camera was off visit and celebrating Easter with her family....

This left Dad, mom, Pat, Carl and I to celebrate this glorious day together....even Matthew in the end went out to visit someone else instead of coming with us to the house....

So early this morning I started the same routine as I did at Christmas and New Years... turkey in the oven to cook but it was nothing like the New Year's one... it was small but still very tasty.... then through out the day the veggies and all the fixings were prepared and then packed up and brought up to mom and dad's for dinner this evening.... and to top that off Pat made an upside down peace cake with whip cream... thanks Pat...

The meal was good if I have to say so myself... the company was even greater... then after that a call from Carl's sister to come over to visit for yet another dessert... more sinful then the first I have to say....

On the way home we took a drive down to Salmon Beach turn were the waters were wild with all the wind that came with the snow that showed up this morning and through out the day but it didn't spoil the day one bit.... now I have to go through them to pick one for my Project 2009 .... maybe I will cheat and put a few of them up...

I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter... we got out to visit Carl's parents today but that was about it... Yvette's house was full this weekend with Monique and her crowd...plus Connor was down to visit as well... which made a quite weekend for Danie and JB... who was home for the weekend... not sure what everyone else was up to but know that you were all in our thoughts...

Happy Easter once again... Joanne
