Who is Telling on Who

Day one and I have survived quite nicely.... but the left over pizza didn't.... In the midst of getting things organized for Carl's departure this weekend we had pizza and there were left overs left in the pizza box on the coffee table in the TV room.... there was also a can of almost empty coke on top of the box as well... while getting some things for my trip to the TV room yesterday afternoon I heard an odd noise so I went to check... nothing out of the ordinary... and Mr. Kodak was down there rolling his golf ball around... so I went up to get my stuff... when I went to go sit down I happen to kick a can which had laid nicely upside down leaving the remainder of the coke all over the floor... I cleaned up the mess and went to find something to watch on TV...

My two dogs tell on each other when the other does something... and it was Maggie's turn... she continued to move around the room and then come and look at me... of course I was not paying too much attention to what was going on until I turned around to put something in the trash basket that is next to my chair and found Mr. Kodak having a great little snack on the left over pizza... he actually knocked the can off the top of the pizza box got into it and grab himself a piece... it must have been driving him crazy... so I checked the box found another piece left there and gave it to Maggie who was probably not telling on him... but whining because he had something that she didn't...

I didn't sit around waiting for phone calls telling me that Carl had arrived at the airport or at Slave Lake... my afternoon was spent going out shopping with mom which is something rare... which is always nice... get alone time with her... which is something that is very rare with everyone around now a days... I am hoping that Roger is feeling a little better today because yesterday he looked and was feeling like heck....

Being alone there is not too many times I know what I am going to have for dinner... it is usually a wing it meal... what ever is in the house but Sunday we had a seafood night.... we picked up a bag of clams... each a small lobster, some shrimp and scallops.... I guess I knew that Carl was not going to have any of the good stuff while he was away and thought it would be nice to have it for kind of his last meal for a while at home... but while we were eating I started to put a little of everything a side thinking I had not had a quick chowder in a long time... and that would be great for dinner Monday night.... the only two things that were missing for this was cheese and 2% milk... and I picked up both on the way home...

I am wondering if Donald's ears are still ringing this morning because after cooking the onions and warming up the fish I sprinkled the cheese all over it and then started to pour the milk into the pan only to realize that the milk was coming out in chucks.... my chowder was spoiled... it had to be thrown out... I am glad there was no one around namely Donald the owner of the store I got the milk from... I know it was not his fault but it was his milk have to blame someone... I ended up with a bowl of chicken noodle soup for dinner while all that wonderful tasting seafood sat in my trash can... and Carl I know you are reading this so stop laughing it is not funny... LOl

Have a wonderful Tuesday guys... I am off to start my day... Joanne

He is Packed ... He is Gone

Before getting started this morning... I have to put in that there is a part 3 to "As We Take a Trip Back in Time..." is lower on the page because I had downloaded the pictures on Friday and didn't get to them until today... I thought they would just go in before this blog but they didn't... so if you want to see them... stroll down....

By lunch time yesterday the bags were packed and almost everything was in order for him to take his flight this morning.... and I didn't do too bad with leaving something behind... a little book with phone numbers for people we know out there is about all I have found so far... but those were emailed to him 25 minutes after he left... well that is if he gets on to his Gmail since in the book was his account and pass word he he....

This morning when I opened the door for Roger it almost looked like it was snowing that is how hard the rain was coming down.... and if it continues the way it is going I will be staying home for the day... maybe I will get the rest of the jelly make... that is if the juice is still good... I am not sure how long it can stay in the fridge... and a small trip up to Theriualt's for oranges and lemons to make some more marmalade we are almost out of that stuff as well... and if not I did get some new movies this weekend so that is looking good for today... and a book I started sometime ago... is looking very good at this moment... maybe it will be different the next time I get up... ohhh yes I am going back to bed... this is different today... normally I sit here waiting for Carl to call at different times throughout his trip to work but he is flying today ... he is not driving ...I am not as nervous as I usually am... though it will be nice to find out that he is there safe and sound... I am sure you will hear more about what is going on in his trip as it develops....

Mom and I had a trip out shopping today but if it continues to be this way I don't think she is going to want to stick her nose out of the house at all.... which I don't blame her at all...

Well back to bed... hope every one has a great Monday ... especially those that are not having all the rain we have today... Joanne

Sunday and One More Sleep....

It has been a busy weekend here.... Friday started with Dad taking a trip up to the hospital to find out that he had water on his lungs and one of them being irritated as well... they sent him home with some medication....no hospital time this time... thank you very much....

By 5:10 pm that night Carl was sent a ticket for a flight for Slave Lake in Edmonton....so you know what the rest of the weekend was made up of for me.... getting things ready for him to leave on Monday.... shopping, laying out things for him to take... our sitting room is starting to look like a walk in closet...today is packing day making sure he is not over weight with his luggage....and it also means that there is one more sleep before he heads out... pouting here...but I know this is the work that he does and he has to go where the work takes him... I am just thankful I am not somewhere alone because it would be so much harder....

Friday night we dropped in to check on Dad even though Pat and Roger are there....you know me have to see for myself when it comes to mom and dad.... and while I was talking to mom about Carl leaving on Monday she came out with ... well why don't you close up the house and move in here while he is gone.... Can you imagine that...There is Roger and Flo there all the time.... Pat is there a few times a week with her work and this week with dad not being well... and then the occasion of Yvette coming up to visit...hmmmm I am wondering where they would put me and the dogs.. hmmmm the roof is looking pretty good at the moment... I said no... though I am sure I am going to be there more then I am any where else while he is gone.... I am still the one that loves coming home at the end of the day... making something to eat... getting jammies on and watching some tv or a movie while making a mess in the tv room with my scrap booking... though the day time is when I seem to not like being here the evenings are my time alone...

And what am I doing up this early in the morning once again... well I can't sleep.... the drier is going at the moment and I just filled the washer up with hopes that this is the last load of clothes that needs to be done before Carl leaves.... Carl just got up and he is heading down to get me some fake energy to get through the day... Tim's tea will do that for me ... with hopes that I will crash tonight.... ya that is going to happen....

I am sure every one is like me who love bargains... well Friday night after watching a movie while eating dinner we decided that we were going to take off for a bit before we started another movie... and ended up at Mark's Work world to pick up some things for Carl... mainly socks and undies... normally if I was doing this on my own... that is what I would have walked out with.... the extra thing I was going in for but Carl is a looker... have to take the whole store in... we got jeans with 20.00 off them... a wool helmet hat... and then he hit a rack... flannel shirts.... priced 20.00 on for 5.00.... normally he doesn't wear these only for work... and since he is going to a colder place he thought he would pick up a few of them... then I got into the act and realized there was snaps on most of these shirts... ohhh yes... snaps...so much easier for the over sized fingers, the fingers that can't work the buttons all that much any more... ohhh yes Dad is getting a surprise tonight...which is normally mom that does...

While dad was in the hospital he dropped 25 pounds of water.... which making most of the shirts way to big for him so I bought him a smaller size and I am very happy to say... they are looking good on him... he had one of them on yesterday when we dropped in with a little surprise for mom...

And if any one is interested dad is doing great on his no added salt diet...2000 mg of sodium per day... and I don't think he has hit that yet since he has been home.... they are keep trace of his intake.... he also has gone down a few more pounds since he has been home.... there is no more mr noodles and can meat sauce for him... no more mushroom soup as well... it is not just not adding table salt to your food any more... unless it is fresh or homemade there is salt in it and plenty of it... I notice myself looking at things what we are or was eating for salt and realizing that we may not have the salt shaker on the table but we are getting plenty of it as well... so there are several things being cut out of our diets as well....

Well Carl just drove in the yard which means my tea is here.... so I am off to start my day... I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and I am sure you will see me back here soon....

It is not because I forgot about the photos that I had downloaded it was because I was a little busy and thought I would get to it when I had the time to look through them so I could make a comment here and there....

These are some more of the photos I have found on a few of the cds that I have made over the years... scanning what I can when I had the time to look through all the photos that mom and dad has... making sure that I had a part of the pass that I didn't have before... knowing that when the day comes that I need to look back I have something to look back on.... I did find some new ones and will be posting them in time....

Thursday Afternoon

Thursday afternoon after getting a little personal things done I headed up to see my sister with the pictures of the night before meeting, some beets to share with her community and the other pictures I am thinking of using in her office... and of course she was working ever so hard when I got there....so just like Calgon I took her away....
We stopped for something to drink and continued on our way to one of my favorite spots in this part of the world.... we saw mother nature at work with her fall colors... we listened to the wonderful music of the water as it roared over the rocks... flowing down the river and hitting the shore line... and smelled the wonderful fall air that surround us.... as we sat on the rocks listening to the soothing music of the water.... I thought of the past... (it seems I have been in there for a while with all the photos that I have been posting recently...) and actually could almost see the logs as they travelled down the river towards where I was sitting... that must have some sight to see...
Of course what is Joanne with out her Camera and it was with me as a faithful friend it is... and I took the time to capture some of the beauty of this time of the year....and these are the photos that I bring to you tonight... enjoy... as much as I enjoyed laying on the rocks, climbing over them to get to what I wanted to capture and all this time only the waters keeping me company as Pat was else where in her own little world... that is what this place makes us want to do... go to our own little world to enjoy....

This tree has been here for a while
and each time I go up it totally amazes me
how it has survived in the middleof this rock slab...

As We Take A Trip Back In Time Part 2

Last night before heading to meet up with Pat I did some looking through some of the old photos that I was given by mom and dad sometime back and this early morning once again I am sharing with you....
These are of Mom and Dad, Nanny and Papa and their brothers and sisters... well of the ones that I had photos of any way...

Mom in her younger days....

Dad watching as the kids unwrapped their Christmas gifts..
Mom taking a well deserved break and with
us monsters running around the house
I am sure it was a rare thing with her...

Mom
Mom cleaning up before heading back home
from a trip to their much loved
Portage Lake Camp fishing trips...
I had to put this photo in...Mom was not sick when I took this photo over 20 years ago... (actually it was her birthday) this was part of the promise dad made to her when he retired and he stuck to it all these years... he told her she had cleaned, looked after the children, cooked and everything else that a wife does... so when he retired he would take on the cooking for her... and this was her taking adventure of it... every morning for many years mom would have breakfast in bed after dad came back from his morning trip to MacDonald's... and today though it is not in bed... her breakfast is placed on the table ready for her when she gets up in the morning... today dad teases her about it saying he wouldn't have made this promise if he knew he was going to be around for this long... the brat he is ... but we still love him... he he

Dad at work...
I see mom on dad's side but I am not really sure who
the other ladies are... but by the smile on dad's face
he is not complaining...and the ladies don't look too
upset being there either he he

Dad with Uncle Tommy's Dog...

Every night after dinner dad would go sit on his side of the sofa in the den and would proceed to have that after dinner nap... only it was not a nap to him... when we would ask him what he was doing... he would never admit that he had fell asleep.. it was always "I am just resting my eyes." Ya right dad... so if you were just resting your eyes what was the snoring about that went with it... he he
These next two photos are the only ones I have found of Uncle Larry...
who was Mom's brother...

This is the gang from Plaster Rock... In the photo there is Mom...
I think the next one is Frankie, Aunt Puss..
Louie and Tommy but I am not sure who the lady or the girl is...
maybe Jeff can help me with that one...
Aunt Puss was Dad's sister...
Tommy, Uncle Amy, Louie and Aunt Puss
Uncle Amy

Mom's sister Aunt Irmine

Uncle Tommy and his dog...( dad's Brother)
I remember when he use to come to visit...
and how strange that he had a wife with a man's name...
Aunt Bernie... he he...

Aunt Carmey (dad's sister) and when she passed away
I made her my guardian angel... and she has been doing
a good job I have to say... after all these years I still miss her
very much....

Kind of a handsome dude.
Don't you think...
this is Uncle Roger (Mom's Baby Brother)

This photos was given to me by Aunt Vina...
Poor dad growing up with all these girls...
There is Aunt Vina... Aunt Leona.. Dad and Aunt Carmey
Well that is an other little walk down memory land for those who are old enough to remember these people while they were growing up... I was surprised that I didn't have a photo of Uncle Art (dad's brother) I am going to ask him about that one... would like to have one of him... he is the Uncle I remember the most... he use to drive me home when his son Bernie moved up to Middle River... each time I got in the car his little love bug... I would pray all the way home hoping that I would get to see mom and dad one more time... my god he was a bad driver... but I still loved him...
This will continue again... now I am going back to bed for a few hours before really starting my day... though I am thinking breakfast would be good just about now... he he
Have a wonderful Thursday guys... Jo
