I am Back and It is All About Me Today

Almost 3 months ago I said that there was no more blogging because there was nothing really to say… but after Sunday and taking up some space on my Project 2009 Blog I thought maybe I will come back for a while… it seems that I have more to say about what is going on recently and have thought this should be a blog….There are more things going on this time of the year and it has always been my venting place and I kind of miss it…

I am the baby girl of 7 children and I am spoiled so I am not sharing this blog with anyone… he he not saying my nieces’ blog Sis3ers (http://www.sist3rs.net/ ) isn’t doing a great job because they are… and enjoy reading all their adventures, opinions and recipes…

Being that this is the first blog for a while I think I am going to talk about ME…

I have been dieting for most of my life because I have been a large person for that length of time… and did really great when I did do it losing fast and when I did the slip I always regained what I lost and added more to it… 12 years ago I stopped everything and ate my way up to 270 pounds… 7 years or so ago I decided that I was not going to be around much longer if I didn’t do something about it and with the help of Flora McLean I started to walk at the civic center a few times a week… meeting Carl later on and he started giving me little tips on what not to eat in my life… and got me going to the gym….

I still remember the day that I decided what weight I was going down to.. I was on the treadmill and thinking how far am I going to go with this… and for some reason 180 pounds came to me… not too big not to small… I was going to the gym and still eating pretty well what I wanted but was losing some weight… it took a long time to get from 270 to 250 and then I stopped… not going to the gym but losing weight… I knew that if I didn’t maintain what I lost I was going to get it back… like before…. So for 6 months I continued the gym and watched what I was eating… that is when I was told that I was a diabetic….

Since then my goal has still been 180 pounds… and I have worked on it very slowly through these years… going down and maintaining it for 6 months and more at times like the last lost for almost 2 years… this year I had to make a decision on what I was going to do with my teeth.. .and because of the cost I choose to take my top teeth out… with the removal of them and changing what I was eating because of it I finally was out of the 200s and into the 100s… at the month I am 13 pounds to my goal… as I sit here sitting Indian wise in my computer chair and enjoying the fact that I can put my legs up without having and problems…. Wearing a 3x jack shirt that I don’t want to give up and only wear outside of the house when I am having a slob day…. When this started I was wearing a size 24 jean today I am in a non stretch 18 (and it being non stretch is very important to me) but I know that they should be 16 but I just got them a few months ago and really don’t want to go out and spend the money on another 2 pair… I am cheap… actually I waiting for when I take them off and not have to unbutton them to go get another pair… yes I am a strange woman… and when I get to 180 pounds I will have lost the total weight of my mother …

I do know that according to the BMI (Body Mass Index) I am still fat and would have to grow 7 more inches in height to be at their perfect weight… but then I have never said at any time that I was perfect… so why start now… he he…

I have never taken the time to look at myself in the mirror… Why Should I? I know that I am big so why bother looking… but about 1.5 months ago I was in at Pennington’s getting some personal wear and as the sales lady was adjusting things I actually took a look in the mirror… and was totally amazed at what I seen…. There were no lumps or bumps showing with the clothes I was wearing… my jeans were fitting just right with nothing hanging out over the waist band… though according to some people they are still too big on me…I still have a baggy backside…. but I always liked big… I also seen something that I had not seen in a very, very long time… my body actually has a curve in it.. I do have a waist people…

Each day I get up and say that I am going back to the gym and never get there for some reason or other and they are all lame excuses by the way… no one has to tell me that but I know I have to if I want to get to where I want to be… one day I am going to stop and take up another membership….Throughout these year I have heard a lot of people tell me how good I am looking and that I have lost a lot of weight but there is one person that makes me go on which is funny because though I should see him more often I don’t and that Harold’s father Charles… when I go to hug him he always comments on how much smaller I am and that I am not as soft as I was before… I am firming up is what he tells me… and of course the most important one how much easier it is for him to put his arms around me… though I don’t really care what people think of my in weight wise… his comments always got to me… and always made and still makes me feel good about myself…

So will I get to the goal that I have set for myself… I don’t know… will I maintain what I have done… I hope so… will I cheat … often I am still a junk food junky and love my pop, chips, bars and desserts… and continue to have them with a lot of fighting going on inside me between each cheat… when the cheats are smaller… instead of a whole bar I get York Mint Patties they sell in canteens… I don’t get a large bag of chips and when I do the puppies get more then I do… I think in time it will come because of the work that I have done to get where I am… I actually like looking at myself when I get dressed and put on my skin tight camisoles with the smooth lines… before I put a large top on top of them… Like I said before I like big and baggy….

On this finally note… I would like to thank Danie for some extra clothes once again she has passed on to me… most of it is big but that is the way I like it as I have said many times in here but then wearing your hand me downs is like when I wear a shirt of Carl’s when he is away too long… or dad’s …..it is like having you close to me even though you are so far way as I travel through my day… thanks again…

And when will you hear me talk about myself and my weight… probably the day I get on the scale and see the 180 numbers come up… and maybe that day I will get someone to take a photo of me… to celebrate…

The rest of the blogs will be of what is going on in the Melanson’s…. this is not just about me… he, he….

Have a wonderful Tuesday people… Joanne

I know I said I was Leaving But This Stuff I had To Share.... What a Week....

Several times this week I said to myself this should be blogged... that is the kind of the week we have had... so tonight while waiting for dinner to be made by someone else because I am really too lazy to make it... I thought I would sit and write about the week that unfolded between Carl and I....

The First I have Named it "The Flying Computer"

Monday morning Carl left the house after being home for a whole 5 days... and when he got to the job site he went to use the dead cell phone that he didn't plug in all weekend to call me to say he arrived safely... which is a most... so he took his computer bag out and put it on the passenger side of the car to get his cord for the cell.... closed the door and when on his merry way....note he didn't close up the bag and some time later he went into the car to get something and guess what flew out the bag on the pavement... I just could see him and hear the words that came out of him... the computer itself is working but the monitor isn't.....so anyone who is wondering why he has not been on bejewel this week... that is why....

Second "Death by Carmel Spread"

About 2 months ago if not more I was craving for ice cream Chocolate to be exact... and I held off on it for a long time before I broke down and bought some... had some and put it away... now with me living most of the time alone and not really going into the freezer... the saying out of sight out of mind comes into play.... then about 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted caramel spread... which is another thing this diabetic should not have but I ended up getting a container putting it in the cupboard and not using it until Tuesday.... when I was putting meat sauce away that I had made over the weekend and spotted the ice cream.... after dinner that night while watching TV I thought ohhhh what a treat and I have caramel spread to put on top of it....

Normally I put things away but I just couldn't wait to get into this dessert and said I will pick it up later when I come back up... well later was 10:30 that night... Now I have to tell you that I had a mouse in the house or I thought I had A mouse.... and I got rid of it... I went to put the cover on the spread and low and behold what was stuck in it but mickey... by the tail... and where was my camera through all of this... in the car waiting for a photo moment as I was driving... I actually thought of going to get it but then I pictured the mouse getting out and tracking spread all over the house... instead I took the ice cream container put it on top of the spread and the cover on top of the ice cream on top of that and put it in the garage can... I am sure the mouse was regretting the sweet touch that he developed somewhere a long the way....

"Sugarless"
Wednesday was a quiet day because I was mostly home... but then things happen to me even when I am home but last night I went to mom and dad's neighbor's to get some crap apples... what is winter without some apple jelly... so thinking I had the morning to myself... I got the juice ready for the jelly last night and this morning when I got up before I made my tea... which maybe I should have done first... I put the stuff on... now normally it takes about 30 minutes to make jelly... after 45 minutes nothing... an hour still nothing... hmmm what is the matter here.... even though the first batch was not turning out I thought why not put the second one on.. maybe I will be lucky....and that is when it hit me like a ton of bricks.... of course I called myself a not so nice word when I realized that I was making jelly not jam... and the difference is jam takes 2 fruit to 1 sugar... jelly takes 1 to 1... I put only 1/2 the sugar in... then I thought do I throw this out... and only have 1/2 the batch I wanted which meant no one was getting free jelly this year... then thought why not... and threw the sugar into the batch... boiled and as I was putting it in the jar... it was already jellying....

I have to say it was nice to sit and type tonight now I have to go pick dinner up... later all...

The Last Entry Just for You Yvette

Midnight last night I stood at the opening of my TV room and couldn't believe the change 2 cans of paint did to this dark and dingy room.

Thanks to Rebecca for letting me have Matthew for a while yesterday I didn't have to wait for Carl to come home to finish off the painting especially since he mentioned something about working another weekend... not getting it done for that long would have driven me a little batty but then I am almost there already... he he

We partly emptied the fish tank, moved it enough so I could get behind it to paint.. had some dinner and did the second coat so it could be put back in its place before they headed home.

When I got back home I thought tomorrow morning I would get the rest of it done... but an hour on the computer I couldn't take it any more. For the next 2 hours I cleaned, moved things back to were they were before, replaced the nick knacks, put up one set of curtains because that was all I bought not really sure if I was even going to like them... this morning I went and picked up another set...

I organized my knitting into baskets I bought some time ago for this reason and never got around to doing it... it was easier having it all over the place... he he.... picked up everything that didn't belong down there and then finally washed the floor...

but when I went upstairs with the mop I realized that there was something missing... the table I got from dad... which he made by the way....had to be placed there as well....

This morning I went through more of my pictures and picked out several actually more then I needed and went looking for frames for them... picked up another lamp since I didn't think it was light enough in the room especially when we wanted to read...

So when I came home this afternoon the other set of curtains went up... the pictures were framed and put up on the wall without too much trouble...

So Yvette you said that with the lose of my blog you wouldn't get to see the finishing of my room... well here it is... all done... Well you could have came up to see it for yourself but like my visits to you they are few and far between so by the time you got up here it would probably been needing a new paint job.. he he

Just to let you know with the starting of this room I finally decided to get yet another room I have been trying to figure out what color to put in it done...

as I have still a gallon of Beacon White left that is the color I will be using with some accent color while I have no idea what that will be... and of course I will need someone around to move the washer and drier for me to get that part of it done... maybe when Carl gets home he can move them when he is about to leave and return them when he gets back...

Well that is it. I would like to take this time to say thank you to those who checked into the blog... left your comments but it has ran its course and it is time to move on... Because I said I would be didn't Project 2009 for one year it will be still running... so if you want to check in on that one... you are more then welcomed to do so... http://photoproject2009-365.blogspot.com/
I sometimes take a bit of time to upload the photos but they are there eventually....

Thanks again.. take care all and happy trails... Love Joanne

I Have Been Busy... Well Kind Of

It has been four days since I posted the last very ugly pictures of what I was trying to do with the basement walls... they are fixed... and it is done... well 1/2 of it is done actually I have the other part to do... yes I am very slow with my painting but at least I am getting it done and it will be done before Carl gets home on Friday except for the corner where the fish tank is... I am not even trying to move that thing... but this part is done I say with a smile... and not looking all that bad either... sure smells better that is for sure... the colors are an off white and living aqua...
I decided that the TV room was starting to look like a collectors room... if we didn't have a place for it upstairs , it went there... so I spent a night packing all my scrap booking supplies into a large container and put them in a closet since it has been several months since I even had a thought of doing anything with it....and all the little boxes that everything was in was stored away as well... which means we don't need one of the shelves that we had in the room....I am actually putting some photos up on the walls... well one so far ... have to go through my collection to see what else I want up there...

A several years ago Carl was working and take this amazing photo of one of the guys welding and I got it done for him as a birthday present the following year... then two years ago we were going to his boss's for a Christmas Party and he thought that it would be nice to get one made for him... saying a welder should have a picture of a welder somewhere in his office... but when I went looking for the photo to enlarge I think I picked the wrong one... it had more smoke in the photo as the one I got done which had a pure black background...so we have him the one I gave Carl... so today though it is not the one I wanted up on the wall but still a wonderful photo... I framed it and put it in the TV room...

And the DVD shelf was moved to the other side of the room... all in order even with a list of movies on the top shelf .... and I do have to say I am so glad I got myself a NEW cordless screw drivers this week... it has come in very handy... he he to you Carl...

I also move our little fridge... where the movies were once before... and we actually have a clock on the wall now ... so we can grab a cold one as we are going to watch what ever on TV though I have to remember to get a cord or ask Carl where a short cord is for the fridge or we are only going to have warm ones...

And the next shelf is for Carl... for his Orange County Bike Collection, his tractor.... and a few other things that he has .... the books are photography books now that they are in sight maybe I will take the time to actually read a few and get some tips....

Besides that I am still sitting Robin's dogs... they will be leaving tomorrow sometimes... I am still knitting but not on baby clothes... decided to wait to see what it is... I am really getting tired of making one, green and yellow stuff.... I am making myself a shawl for when I am sitting at the computer this winter and my back gets cold....

Peter and family are on their way home... they left Saturday morning... I didn't get much time with them but the time I did get I have enjoyed very much... Jill is home... and we have been out a few times with camera and to the market... Roger and Flo took her to Moncton today to get her new camera.... not telling her but I am so jealous.. he he... You can check out her photos whoever has her on facebook.. she does an awesome job... great eye...

All is good with mom and dad... no hospital or doctors for the last while which is always nice... they have been kept busy with the swing door of all the visitors in the last month...

Well time for food... breakfast has come and gone in more ways then one.... have a great one all... Joanne
